Retiring to Spain From the UK in 2026

Brexit changed retiring to Spain more than the British government ever admitted. You are now a third country national. You need a visa before you board the plane. The Non-Lucrative Visa wants proof of nearly €29,000 a year in passive income for a couple in 2026, climbing a bit every year with the IPREM. You need private health insurance until your State Pension age, at which point the S1 form swaps you onto the Spanish public system for free. Tax residency triggers at 183 days. Your UK pension is taxable in Spain, not the UK, once you are resident. None of this is in the brochure your estate agent sent you. We are building this site because almost every guide online is either a copy of a 2019 article with the year changed, or a thinly disguised funnel into a visa lawyer's calendar. There are roughly 290,000 Brits living in Spain now and the demographic skews older every year. They are figuring it out by trial and error, in WhatsApp groups, asking the same questions over and over. We want to write the answers down once, properly, in English a normal person can read. NLV maths. S1 timing. Tax reality. Healthcare options by region. Real monthly costs in 2026 in Malaga versus Murcia versus Mallorca. Email below to get it as we publish.
